LVL3 – review

Game: LVL3
Publisher: Critoxi
players: 2-4
Time: 30 minutes

LVL3 is a strategy game where players need to place tiles in different shapes on the board. On the tiles are little figures in different colors. Try to place the tiles so that the figure with your player color touches another figure of your color. But when you don’t play it right, you give some point to your opponents. You can lay the tiles on top of eachother. The higher the level, the higher the points!

This board game feels like a mix between Qwirkle and NMBR9. There are a couple of elements that make this game interesting and different from the rest. When you like abstract games you will like this one!

Super Nova Smash

Game: Super Nova Smash
Designer: Tom Hines
Players: 2-8
Time: 30 min
Super Nova Smash! is a fast-paced phone + card party game. The goal is to get rid of your cards before your friends and do as much damage as you can. Cards numbered 0-5. You can play one card higher or lower than the card on top of a play pile, including your on your own pile, and those numbers wrap, so you can play a 5 on a 0 and vice versa.
The app is there to tell you when to play and give you random challenges.

This game is a fun party game, a nightmare die any one who doesn’t like stressfull games or had a beer to many. The app makers the game different than other party games, because you have to watch it all time while you are still trying to get rid of your cards. The negative side is that everyone needs the app to play. So everyone needs a working smartphone with enough battery left to play the game.

In this adventure blok game players take on the role of a mice, hamster or guinea pig. They need to survive in a world where humans no longer take care for them. Discover the world outside with one of the 20+ story-driven missions and side missions.

This game is totally different from all the games I have in my collection. It took me a little while to understand the tools and how the game plays, but after that I am totally addicted to this game! I can’t wait to go on more missions and discover more of the story. I really recommend this game! .

Go support it if you like action-programming and area-control games! .

Review Alice in Wordland

Game: Alice in Wordland
Publisher: Drawlab
Designers: Darsaklis, Koronis
Players: 3-8
Time: 20 min
Players are characters from Alice in Wonderland and each has his own powers. Try to come up with a word in the category on the card, but don’t use any of the turned letters!

Review: the musical teapot is brilliant and really elevates this game. The basic rules are simple so smaller kids can play too. By adding the characters things get a little more tactical. A nice party game for the whole family. .

Review Schnap!

Game: Schnap! Game
Players: 2-8
Time: 10-30 min
Schnap! Is a party game (18+) where drinking is unavoidable. Turn around the top card of your pile. If there are two cards on top with the same color, scream Schnap! as fast as possible. Now decide who gets to drink.

🔥 Review

The game is explained within minutes. When you don’t like to drink alcohol you shouldn’t play it, because it is not really an option to just drink soda. The whole concept is gone that way. If you do like to drink and feel like playing a game but not a difficult one, this is something for you.

Review iKnow

Game: iKNOW
Publisher: Tactic
Year: 2012
Players: 2-6
Time: 60 min

iKNOW is a trivia game where a great gambler can win from a know-it-all. Try to answer the question with the right amount of clues and quess how other players will answer their questions.

I really like trivia games, and this one is no exception. The clues are a really nice twist and the bets make the game different than other trivia games. However I do think that the questions where pretty hard. We looked at all the four questions on the card and asked eachother the easiest questions. Otherwhise we would still be playing.

Review Ecologies

Game: Ecologies

In Ecologies you build and maintain food webs in diverse biomes around the world. Each biome has a different ecology, and gives unique rewards when it is healthy and balanced. But watch out, your opponents may decide it’s easier to disturb and degrade your ecosystems than nurture their ow

Biology teacher @montrosebiology made this beautiful card game. The cards look really cool with the vintage drawings. The game is educational, not only for kids but also for adults. For a card game, Ecologies is a long game because when you play with more players the game can even take 90 minuten to finish.

Review: Bilder (one of the best party games)

Game: Bilder
Publisher: Monkeyshine Games @monkeyshine_games
Players: 2-8
Time: 15-40

In Bilder players are trying to tell stories, build construction and move the pieces so that other players can guess what it is that you are portraying. There are also challenge cards. They are testing the skills of the builder.

This game feels a bit like Pictionary. It is also the same, but the building blocks give it a whole different feeling. There are many different cards so you won’t know the answers after a couple of times playing. This game can be explained within minutes and the whole family can join!

Review: Qango

Game: Qango
Publisher: Qango Verlag
Designer: Klaus Burmester
Artist: Arnold Reisse
Players: 2
Time: 5 minutes

Qango is a abstract two player game that only lasts a couple of minutes. Players place their discs on the board trying to make a square of 4 discs, a row of five or fill one section of the same color. Whoever does that the first, wins!

Read the review of Qango. A two player game that only lasts a couple of minutes!

This game feels a bit like checkers and three in a row. The games are short and the rules are really simple. When you play it, you can’t stop after 1 game. But I do wonder what the replayability. There are a couple of strategy’s and I think when you played it a couple of times, the player who starts will almost automatically win.
